We’re excited to share an opportunity for an existing vacancy as an Engineering Design Supervisor within our Research and Development (R&D) team. This role is ideal for a proactive, experienced engineer with a passion for innovation and leadership in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. As the Engineering Design Supervisor, you will lead a small team of engineers and designers, driving cutting-edge solutions that contribute directly to the success of our R&D projects. Your work will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our product designs and ensuring the team's technical and developmental goals are met with excellence.
As an Engineering Design Supervisor in our R&D department, you will have the opportunity to lead and mentor a team of talented engineers while overseeing the design and development of complex, innovative products. You’ll be instrumental in turning creative concepts into functional, market-ready designs, all while fostering an environment of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Supervising a small team of engineers and designers, providing guidance and support throughout the design and development process
Overseeing the design and prototype development of new products, ensuring designs meet R&D objectives and align with company goals
Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents
Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, researchers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure designs are optimized for functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness
Managing project timelines and resources, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality standards
Ensuring adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards in all design activities
Leading the resolution of design-related challenges, offering solutions to improve product performance and manufacturability
Driving innovation by encouraging out-of-the-box thinking within the team and ensuring that new ideas are explored and tested
Mentoring junior engineers and fostering their professional development
Maintaining clear and effective communication with senior management and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress and challenges
Keeping abreast of the latest engineering design trends and technologies, and applying best practices in the R&D environment
Mandatory Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in engineering design, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
Strong knowledge of product design, prototyping, and development processes within an R&D environment
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or similar tools)
Experience in design for manufacturability, prototyping, and testing
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive technical outcomes
Solid understanding of engineering principles, material science, and mechanical/electrical systems
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent organizational and time-management skills
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal teams and external stakeholders effectively
Preferred Requirements:
Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
Experience in R&D-focused product development for [industry-specific, e.g., consumer electronics, automotive, medical devices]
Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, or similar)
Knowledge of advanced simulation tools and software for design optimization
Familiarity with regulatory standards and certifications (e.g., ISO, CE, UL)
Experience with mechanical or electrical testing, validation, and performance analysis
Lean or Six Sigma certification, or experience with process improvement initiatives
