As an Engineering Design Manager, you will be at the forefront of shaping the technical direction of our projects, driving design excellence, and supporting the growth of a talented engineering team.
As an Engineering Design Manager, you will play a critical role in guiding the engineering team through all stages of the design process—from concept through to execution. Your leadership will help ensure that product designs are not only creative and functional but also meet quality, cost, and timeline expectations. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of engineers and designers to deliver high-quality engineering designs
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management, manufacturing, and R&D to define design specifications and project scope
Overseeing the development of engineering design concepts, prototypes, and final products
Ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards
Reviewing and approving technical designs and specifications for feasibility, compliance, and manufacturability
Driving the implementation of best practices in engineering design processes, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation
Managing resource allocation, workload balancing, and team performance
Coordinating with vendors, suppliers, and external partners to ensure design specifications are met
Monitoring and managing the design and engineering team’s progress on key performance indicators (KPIs)
Acting as the primary point of contact for any design-related issues and providing solutions as needed
Mandatory Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of experience in engineering design with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role
Proven track record of managing design projects from concept to completion
Strong knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)
Experience with design for manufacturability and cost optimization
Solid understanding of engineering design principles, materials, and processes
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills
Preferred Requirements:
Professional Engineering designation or equivalent
Familiarity with Agile development and product lifecycle management
Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards in product design
Experience with design tools such as PDM/PLM systems
Proficiency in project management software and methodologies
