Job Description

We have partnered with a global manufacturing leader to recruit a Health & Safety Specialist for a permanent job opportunity in Hamilton region The successful candidate will have a successful track record in a Health & Safety role in a manufacturing environment.  This is a great opportunity to join a growing dynamic company, which offers a competitive salary, bonus, RRSP matching and bonus, and future career growth advancement opportunities!

Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
  • Create and maintain safety and environmental training programs according to company policies and Provincial requirements
  • Administrate compliance with Federal & Provincial regulations regarding environmental protection and safety 
  • Develop and maintain systems that record, monitor and measure facility compliance
  • Arrange, handle and review internal safety / environmental inspections and third party surveillance audits
  • Amass H&S reports and integrate with Managers/Supervisors to implement H&S programs and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Aid with ensuring safe storage, handling, use and disposal of chemicals at the plant
  • Manage WSIB claims and return to work plans for injured workers
 Qualifications:
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety 
  • Minimum of 2 years experience of H&S experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with hazardous waste disposal and waste reduction practices
