Job Title: Maintenance Manager – Material Handling Location: Brampton Salary Range: $125k to $140k

itec group is partnered with a leading manufacturer in the Material Handling and Logistics sector, looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join their team. This key leadership position is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the maintenance operations within the facility, ensuring optimal performance of equipment and systems used in the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in maintenance leadership, with expertise in material handling systems, automated equipment, and preventive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and lead a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the plant’s material handling systems, including conveyors, automated systems, and other equipment.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) programs to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of equipment while minimizing downtime and reducing unplanned maintenance.
Manage scheduling of internal maintenance staff and external contractors to ensure maintenance activities are carried out effectively, timely, and safely.
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation issues across material handling equipment to ensure minimal disruption to production.
Lead efforts to enhance maintenance strategies, including continuous improvement initiatives to upgrade systems, optimize equipment performance, and improve energy efficiency.
Coordinate the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new material handling equipment, ensuring the integration of new systems into the existing operation with minimal downtime.
Monitor performance metrics to track maintenance effectiveness, equipment downtime, and operational efficiency, and provide regular reports to senior management on performance, challenges, and solutions.
Supervise and mentor maintenance staff, provide training opportunities, and foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous development within the team.
Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards as related to the maintenance of equipment and systems.
Mandatory Requirements:
Engineering Degree/Diploma or Skilled Trades C of Q
5+ years of experience in a maintenance leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally within the material handling, logistics, or packaging sectors.
Strong knowledge of material handling systems, including conveyors, automated machinery, and production equipment.
Proven experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for both mechanical and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and maintenance documentation.
Experience managing teams, scheduling work, and leading continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Previous experience with industrial automation systems, PLCs, VFDs, motor control centers (MCCs), and related technologies.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
