Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Lead to join their growing team in Waterloo. This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing the design and development of custom OEM equipment while providing mentorship and technical guidance to the Mechanical Engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving engineering excellence, supporting project execution, and ensuring innovative, cost-effective design solutions.
Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Leading and mentoring a team of Mechanical Engineers and Designers.
Managing the mechanical design and development of custom OEM equipment.
Performing engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate designs.
Designing and reviewing hydraulic systems and related components.
Developing and approving fabrication and manufacturing drawings.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Project Management, Purchasing, and Production.
Supporting project timelines, technical reviews, and customer requirements.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes and product design.
Providing technical leadership throughout all phases of project execution.
Ensuring designs comply with applicable engineering standards and best practices.
Mandatory Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience designing custom OEM equipment.
Strong experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Hands-on experience with hydraulic system design.
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding, and manufacturing methods.
Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising engineering personnel.
Proficiency with 3D CAD software.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
P.Eng. designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000
