We’re excited to share an opportunity for an existing vacancy as a Product Engineering Manager reporting to VP of Engineering.
Our customer is looking for an experienced Product Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team of engineers in the design, development, and optimization of automotive components. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and a deep understanding of manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, and stamping. As a manager, you will guide and mentor a team of engineers, work closely with cross-functional teams, and oversee the successful delivery of high-quality, cost-effective automotive solutions.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Manage a team of product engineers focused on designing and developing automotive components.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for engineers to foster a high-performance culture.
Ensure that team objectives align with the company’s strategic goals and that engineering deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance team capabilities.
Product Design & Development Oversight:
Oversee the design and development of automotive components, emphasizing casting, forging, and stamping processes.
Ensure all product designs adhere to GD&T standards and DFM principles to optimize manufacturability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to develop integrated solutions that meet product specifications and production capabilities.
Lead design reviews, provide technical oversight, and guide engineers in identifying and solving complex design challenges.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team and across the broader product engineering function, focusing on improving design quality, reducing costs, and accelerating time-to-market.
Lead efforts to adopt new technologies, tools, and methodologies that enhance engineering capabilities and manufacturing efficiency.
Act as the primary point of contact between the product engineering team and other departments.
Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including OEMs, suppliers, and external partners, to ensure alignment on product requirements and timelines.
Coordinate with senior leadership to establish product development priorities and resource allocation.
Project & Resource Management:
Plan and oversee multiple product development projects from concept to production, ensuring alignment with company priorities and market demands.
Allocate resources effectively and manage project timelines to ensure successful delivery of engineering milestones.
Monitor project progress and identify potential risks or roadblocks, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
5+ years of experience in automotive product engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and leading engineering projects in the automotive industry.
