Job Description

. Lead Project Engineer- 1 year contract  
Our client, an established automotive manufacturing company based in the Waterloo region, is hiring a Project Leader for new systems integration. This is an on-site role with minimal travel and optional overtime. Due to the advanced automation projects slated for completion and the strong employer brand recognition this is an excellent opportunity to advance your skills.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing automation projects from the ground up, tracking and supervising the controls engineering team and vendors to ensure they meet schedules, budget, safety, and quality for new stamping equipment including scrap systems, blanking lines, and sheet feeders, and other fully automated systems. 
 
Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Developing project initiation documents, including schedules, outlines, budgets and project KPIs for controls engineering team and vendors. 

  • Ongoing development of safety, quality, and new technologies for automating automotive manufacturing systems.

  • Mentoring the controls engineering team and production leaders on new technologies and best practices.

  • Occasionally assisting with the hands-on commissioning or troubleshooting of PLC, Robotics, and HMI systems.
 
Mandatory Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering 

  • Over 5 years automotive industry experience

  • Over 5 years project management experience 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Eligible for P.Eng 

  • Eligible to work in the US

  • Excellent communication skills and experience creating reports using Microsoft 365.
